Although I truly LOVED the end result, I was a bit worried about my dog who was not used to going up and down the stairs without carpet and if the stairs would hold up to her nails. I gave it a couple weeks, and decided that I would add a runner (which is a very nice and tailored look. However, Runners can be EXTREMELY expensive. So after researching, I found the best option for a runner to be a neutral (grey) indoor/outdoor (great for durability) runner that is sold off of bulk rollers at about $2.00 a square foot at Home Depot (and Menards). The total ended up being about $35-40 for the entire length of the stairs!!!! SCORE!!! I stapled it to the backs and under the lip of each stair tread...and TADAAA!!!
